Business Intelligence DBA

Requirements

Position Summary:

The BI DBA is responsible for the design and implementation of all database related applications and processes for the Business Intelligence Platform. The current position has a HIGH emphasis on analytics, OLAP, and analysis cube design.

Duties:

• Work with other database administrators, report writers, and project teams to refine reporting requirements based on customer’s business needs
• SQL performance monitoring and tuning of reporting data
• Optimization of indexes
• Optimization of stored procedures
• Stored procedure and function scripting to support projects/tasks
• Provide documentation about database/data warehouse structures
• Create ad hoc SQL queries – customer reports, executive management reports
• Provide estimates of effort required to design and develop solutions
• Participate in design sessions with architects and developers
• Follow all coding policies and standards
• Follow configuration management/version control policies
• Participate in peer code reviews
• Communicate and coordinate status updates to management and internal customers
• Work with business and technical teams to understand goals, pitfalls, and architecture of projects
• Provide Tier-3 support assistance to developers and members of the implementations or customer support teams
• Other duties as required by management

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, business, or related field

Experience:
• 6+ years of Microsoft SQL Server database design/development experience
• 5+ years experience working with SSRS, SSIS, SSAS
• 4+ years BI / Data Warehousing experience
• 1+ years experience working with XML preferred

Specific Skills:

• Excellent understanding and experience with all of the following: SQL Server configuration and maintenance; SQL Server performance tuning; and T-SQL coding and optimization
• Previous SQL experience in a high availability environment desired
• Ability to work with little daily supervision in a very dynamic and timeline sensitive environment
• Exhibits a proactive approach towards issue identification and resolution
• Excellent team player and team builder
• Ability to balance multiple priorities
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to communicate technical issues to technical and non-technical audiences
• Analytical and creative problem solving skills
• Ability to define problems, perform research and draw defendable conclusions
• Knowledge of enterprise class software requirements including security, scalability, and usability
• Knowledge of the Microsoft .Net development framework
• Previous software development experience a plus
• Knowledge of web application architecture and management a plus

Specialized Knowledge/Licenses/Certifications:

• MS development certifications are desirable
